Listen

I spent a good amount of time today watching reaction videos to this blistering performance.  I think of this song as one of those "deep" songs that WMAK (1300 AM in Nashville) played at night.  The organ in the song always takes me back to my room, listening to my little transistor.

Does anyone even remember  transistor radios?

At any rate, I was 7 when the song was released, and more interested in listening to 


Still, I've always appreciated the song, acquired a new "sophisticated" opinion of it, and have enjoyed watching people hearing it for the first time.  And I just want to say, it gives me goosebumps every single time.

I got a beautiful aqua transistor radio for my 13th birthday; it even had a leather cover. I loved it....

I have an old transistor radio. It is an very old AM/shortwave that saw lots of use before the internet ruined DXing as it was called. I still communicate with some of my old radio buddies. I have another little one that I keep for weather emergencies that is like a transistor but I doubt it uses that exact circuitry. When I can't sleep at night I scan the FM and AM stations like I did when I was a teen. It's mostly oldie stations anymore so it's like going back in time.
I loved the Monkees. I wanted to marry Peter Tork.

Definitely had a transistor radio. Did you ever see the movie The Commitments? This song always reminds me of that. I loved this song when I was a youth. It holds up.
