Following the lead of my twinster and knitting a Color Affection shawl.  I'm always late to the game on stuff like this Hot-Pattern-of-the-Moment.  But elann.com is selling yarn packs for Color Affection, and I thought I'd dive in.  I went with Night Flower, if you're interested.

Heading off to Stitches South tomorrow.  Can't leave until after 4, which will most likely put me 1) in Atlanta 5 o'clock traffic and 2) driving into some strong thunderstorms.  But once I'm there, I'm there, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday stretch out before me.

It's possible I won't spend that much time at the actual Stitches events.  I couldn't sign up for any classes --- too expensive.  So the only place for me to go, really, is the marketplace.  Not that I'm complaining.

Hopefully, these few days away will help me mentally.  My therapist called my trip to Folly Beach last year (last YEAR?) "as good as ElectroShock."  I am in desperate need of a Reset.  Because I am perilously close to hitting the Permanently Off switch.

A while ago, I said I was following my twin by taking up a project she had already finished. Well, here is my version (so far) of Wingspan:

It's a fun, very easy knit --- I'd love to make several, but am afraid to have too many of something so unique, you know?

Girls

Daughter has serious "Avengers" fever.

This afternoon, she went to see it for the 5th time.  And when she isn't watching it, or one of the heroes' individual movies, she's talking about it.

Wow.

Have a little sister project started, and am already wondering if I'll be able to finish it.  I'm knitting it with yarn I balled up for something else, so the label (and yardage) are long gone.  Hope I can get it done.  There'll be photos when I'm farther along --- don't worry, though.  Mine is in a different color from hers, so you'll be able to tell us apart.

Last (Full) Day

It would be hard to overstate what these four days here have meant to my mental health.  I cannot remember the last time I was this relaxed, unharried, dare I say it, happy.  I've walked and walked and thought and prayed and meditated and just been still and listened to the water.

The realization that tomorrow I have to go back to Athens starts a churning in my stomach, and all my pills immediately imprint on my brain.  While here, I've had to force myself to take them.  I'm recording little slivers of videos to have when I get back, so that, 30 or so seconds at a time, I can be back here again.

What I may need, this experience tells me, is to travel.  With what money Mama left me, I can take the occasional little outing.  And, honestly, into the marrow of my spine, I am certain I ought to buy myself a house on a beach.

Some of what I've done here, I'll do when I'm back in Athens.  I've knit

a lot.  I've read a lot.  But I've also gotten out at least twice each day and walked the town.  Went into funky little shops, found the most literal of out-of-the-way-places to eat.  As I leave tomorrow, I'm going into Charleston to visit a yarn store.  It's all the same, but so, so very different and so, so, so very healing.

Only things I'd change?  Well, first, check with my Twinnie and see if she's going to be anywhere near (we missed each other by that much), and second, buy myself a kite.

And though that photo of Sam is enough to fulfill all kinds of needs, I also got:

uh-huh --- that's right.  Go on and be jealous, on account of my little girl.

Well, I suppose it does.  And, short of going back to the picture of Sam, this may be the best I can do on a chilly Saturday.
