Women I Watched

Cher was important to me.  I watched "The Sonny & Cher" show every week to see her clothes.  Her fingernails, too, I'll admit, but mostly the endlessly fantastic outfits.

She wore great stuff on her own show, too.  Look up the video of her outfit reveals on "The Cher Show," and you'll see.

Peggy Lipton was life touchpoint, too.

She was California cool and kind of hippie and she played a police officer on "Mod Squad."  Her daughter, Rashida Jones, is one of my girl crushes.

Lastly, Susan Dey.

How cute was she?  Yes, I was a David Cassidy fan, and watched "The Partridge Family" for him, but I was always paying attention to "Laurie."

Three women who were famous when I was at different, but still impressionable, ages.  Thank you to each of them.

I loved the Sonny and Cher show too. I was madly in love with David Cassidy also but at the same time I had a crush on Peter Tork from the Monkees. My girl crush was Olivia Hussy in Romeo and Juliet. Everything about her was dreamy. Those were the days.
Cher looked great last night on the SNL Anniversary red carpet but when your job is to look gorgeous I suppose it's not that hard to do even at her age.

Oh my gosh how I loved when Cher came out all wrapped up (this must have been after Sonny was no more) and she sang the beginning of the song really slow an then she TOSSED the wrap and clapped and started singing oh I don't know "tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree" and it was FABULOUS.
