I have retreated today. Watched old movies and read and embroidered and knit in quiet. I cannot watch more than a few seconds of news without sinking into sad hopelessness. I am scared. I am really, truly scared.

And waiting to get Maddie to the vet in the morning. She's not feeling great, but nothing like Friday.
