The Wearing of the Green

My mother was relentlessly adamant that one say "polishing" one's nails rather than "painting" them.  You could almost hear her teeth clamp together if someone said the latter.

Yesterday, I polished my nails in recognition of today:

This is the only way anyone will know I am sporting green today, as it is a cold, windy, rainy, stay-inside-and-knit-and-read St. Patrick's Day in Northeast Georgia.

Unfortunately I didn't sport any green yesterday... I just had to keep lying and telling people my socks were green! Love the nail polish.

The Brits refer to it as nail varnish. Wonder what your mother would have said about that?
