Before answering Kathy's Monday Questions (which I failed to get back to yesterday), let me answer some that have been posed to me a lot in the last couple of days:
Yes, I do watch "The Walking Dead."
Yes, I do know what happened Sunday night.
No, I did not see it.
No, I do not think I will ever watch that episode.

NOW. . .

What is your favorite fabric to wear?
Sweatshirt fleece.

Who woke you up this morning?
Lily.  It's always Lily.

Last time you had to turn off the announcers and turn on the radio for a sports event?
I don't remember, honestly!  Probably a Vandy football game, but I can't say for sure.

Last fast food item you ate?
Zaxby's chicken fingers.

Last item you had knit regrets about?
The only things that comes to mind are a sweater I made for my father, and a vest I made for my husband, just after I started knitting.  Neither of them ever got put together.

Last time  a family member said to you?
"Love you."

Are you still working on a New years Resolution?
No;  I don't make them.

Last great amatuer photo you saw?
This one!

Do you feed the birds?
Sadly, no.

Do you know someone who is an organ donor recipient or donor?
Lots of donors, no recipients.

Cold Shoulders

There were 589 stitches!  They were the beginning of this: It's the Superior Waves Shawl from Willow Yarns.  This is one of the kits Kathy was asking about the other day.
Speaking of which, here are this week's questions: Sure sign of Springs: bugs.  Has anything bitten you yet? No, though the carpenter bees are back flying around the bench on the front porch. Do you knit for practice?  I don't mean for gauge;  for a stitch pattern? If I have, I don't remember. Have you tried One Touch Latte for your coffee? Not a coffee drinker. Have you seen or tried Persi laundry detergent? I'd never heard of it 'til now. When was the last time you wore one of your own handknits? Over the weekend --- some socks made from Noro.
If the waves shawl weren't keeping me busy enough, I'm also working on 28's Cousin 53.  I'm making it out of yarn that will turn purple when I wear it in the sun. What will they think of next?

Yesterday would have been my mother's 88th birthday.  I don't say that looking for sympathy --- it's just that the arithmetic surprised me.  Then I realized that next year, my husband would have been 70.  That is hard to get my mind around.
The shades-of-blue feather and fan shawl (the 589-stitcher) had to go into the "Maybe Another Day" file.  Somewhere along the way, I lost the pattern stitch and couldn't fix it without frogging way, way back.  It's irritated me to no end, but there really wasn't anything else to do.
Something occurred to me the other day.  If this is already being done, I didn't know, so I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder.  You know those cake/cocoa/cookie mixes in a jar? Why couldn't that be done with yarn "cakes"?

I have been awake since 10 AM yesterday.  I have no idea why.  It resulted in lots, lots of knitting getting done overnight.  It has also resulted in my being alternately punchy and goofy.  What a day to have a therapy appointment.  At least I had the good sense to wear pretty boots:
There is all kinds of nervous conversation here about some possible snowflakes falling Friday or Saturday.  I have to go to the grocery store tomorrow anyway;  as long as there are a couple of gallons of milk in stock, things will be good here.
